Catalyst Award Presented to Satya Rajpurohit

The SOTA Catalyst Award is presented to a person 30 years of age or younger who shows both achievement and future promise in the field of typography. The 2010 Catalyst Award was presented at TypeCon to Satya Rajpurohit of Ahmedabad, India. Satya gave a presentation regarding his work for the Indian Type Foundry, which he co-founded with Peter Bilak of Typotheque and Rajesh Kejriwal of Kyoorius Exchange.

The award included travel to Los Angeles, lodging during TypeCon, and a custom letterpress print created for the occasion by Richard Kegler.

In this, the first year of the competition, SOTA received entries from 20 different countries in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and the South Pacific. The award was made possible through an anonymous gift from a member of the SOTA Board of Directors.
