Hot Metal Open House

The C.C. Stern Type Foundry will be holding a special “Hot Metal Open House” on Sunday, August 25th from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. Museum staff will have hot metal type casting machines up and running, providing explanations and information on their collection of hot metal machinery and matrices.The C.C. Stern Type Foundry’s Museum of Metal Typography is a working museum — with a focus on “working”. They operate one of the only type foundries between San Francisco and Vancouver, British Columbia. Their capability to make metal type and decorative print elements — and sharing that craft with the community — fills a growing need within the Pacific Northwest’s vital network of designers, letterpress printers, and book artists.
