TypeCon2014 Marches Into Washington, DC

Mark your calendars!

The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) is pleased to announce that The City of Magnificent Intentions — Washington, DC — has been selected as host city for TypeCon2014 — July 30th to August 3rd. Thanks to the awesome local crew who were instrumental in bringing TypeCon to the nation’s capital.

The City

Some cities have parades … the nation’s capital has presidential motorcades. Although the political landscape is hard to ignore — regardless of your persuasion — it’s what you find when you peel back the marble that is truly wonderful. The capital features an impressive list of fascinating attractions — from the powerful monuments and memorials on the National Mall to inspiring cultural treasures like the Smithsonian Institution, Library of Congress, and National Gallery of Art.However, DC may surprise you as well. It has been continuously ranked as one of America’s Top Bike-Friendly Cities and is recognized as a major destination for foodies, beer enthusiasts, and theatre-goers.What about getting there, you ask? Nearly the entire East Coast is within driving distance of DC, with New York City and Philadelphia just a short train ride away. There’s also three major airports servicing the area.

The Venue

Our conference headquarters will be the Hyatt Regency Washington — located just steps from Capitol Hill. The hotel has recently undergone a top to bottom renovation and features a five-story atrium, immaculately appointed guest rooms, well-equipped fitness center, indoor lap pool, an impressive lounge, and the renowned Article One American Grill restaurant.Once again, we will be offering a discounted room rate for TypeCon attendees staying at the conference hotel. Details regarding room pricing and booking will be posted as they become available.

Stay Tuned
