MuirMcNeil To Design “Resound” Identity

Every year, the Society of Typographic Aficionados collaborates with a designer or team to develop a unique conference identity. With TypeCon2016 heading back to Seattle this summer, we are very excited to be partnering with the amazing MuirMcNeil on the theme for TypeCon2016 — Resound.

Why Resound?

It’s been nine years since TypeCon first echoed through the streets of Seattle and our return to the city on Puget Sound — a “Resound” if you will. The creative dynamism of Seattle is palatable, and “Resound” riffs on the audible energy of the local music scene. TypeCon brings people together, resonating across multiple industries, cultures, and crafts. While we teach and we learn, we also celebrate our accomplishments … taking away something that can be considered a “Resounding” success.

About MuirMcNeil

MuirMcNeil was co-founded in 2010 by Paul McNeil and Hamish Muir. Its activities are focused on exploring parametric design methods to generate appropriate solutions to visual communication problems.Paul McNeil is a typographic designer with over 30 years of experience working in brand communications and visual identity for the UK telecommunications, government, public, and charity sectors. McNeil currently works as a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design at London College of Communication having been Course Leader of the MA Contemporary Typographic Media course at the college from 2011–2016. McNeil is a member of the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) and a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA).Hamish Muir was co-founder of the London-based graphic design studio 8vo (1985–2001), and co-editor of Octavo, International Journal of Typography (1986–92). Since 2002 Muir has been employed as a Senior Lecturer (part-time) on the BA (Honors) Graphic and Media Design course at London College of Communication. Muir is also a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).
